No Such Thing as Impossible – SERMON STUDY

February 18, 2024

Icebreaker: What is your favorite miracle performed by Jesus in the bible, and why does it resonate with you?

Sermon Title:
The Path of Totality – “No Such Thing as Impossible”
– Jeremiah 32:27

Group Discussion:

Read Jeremiah 32:27 & John 14:11 – There is a God; as such, there is no such thing as impossible. How can this truth of His unlimited power, and our access to the Father through Jesus Christ, impact our trust and reliance on the Lord? Please share your thoughts on how the Jesus of biblical times, who worked supernaturally, is the same Jesus we are following today. In practical terms, how can we “believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves?”

Read Mark 1:40-42 & Matthew 14:14 – Doing the impossible allows Jesus to extend His mercy. How can Jesus’ ability to perform miracles today, as in biblical times, convince us to approach Him with confidence and hope? What posture or attitude must we adopt to acknowledge His supremacy and receive His mercy?

Read John 10:37-38 & Mark 13:22-23 – Doing the impossible allows God to reveal false gods. How can witnessing or experiencing Jesus’ miracles play a role in developing our trust and belief in His supreme power and righteousness over what the world has to offer? How can we foster a mentality that (1) embraces “the impossible,” (2) positively influences our relationship with Jesus, and (3) results in our total surrender?

Read Mark 2:3-5 & Mark 9:22b-24 – Doing the impossible allows God to increase our faith. How can these biblical accounts inform our perspectives on persistence and faith in pursuing Jesus in our own lives? What can we conclude from the actions of the father and the paralyzed man’s friends who radically pursued an encounter Jesus? What are practical steps to help us overcome doubt and increase our faith?

Spiritual Discipline:

Take time this week to study these scriptures about how with our Lord, there is no such thing as impossible: 100 Bible Verses

Action Steps:

Jesus wants to help us overcome our unbelief. He wants to help us develop a faith that does not say: “Well, it is what it is.” He wants to help us develop a faith that says: “All things are possible with God.” Take time this week to meet with a friend or family member and openly discuss areas in your life where you may be lacking in faith. Once identified, prayerfully petition the Lord to help you overcome the doubt. You may even pray through some of the bible verses listed about under the Spiritual Discipline for this week.
