Can’t Say Enough STUDY GUIDE

April 7, 2024

Icebreaker: Have you ever said about a person: “I can’t say enough good things about _____? Who was it?

Sermon Title: The Path of Totality – “Can’t Say Enough” – Matthew 16:13-23

Group Discussion:

Read Matthew 16:14 – Be careful with what some say about Jesus. How does this cautionary statement align with the importance of seeking truth about Jesus and His purpose, especially in a culture where truth is so intentionally distorted? How can we discern between truthful, accurate statements about Jesus and potentially misleading or inaccurate statements?

Read Matthew 16:15-17 – Be confident with what God says about Jesus. How does this exchange between Jesus and Peter reinforce the importance of relying on divine revelation and Scripture to inform our understanding of Jesus? How can we cultivate confidence in what God says about Jesus in our own lives, the lives of family and friends, and among nonbelievers as we share the gospel?

Read Matthew 16:21-23 – Be consistent with what you say about Jesus. How can we maintain consistency in our representation of Jesus in our words, and equally as important, in our actions and behaviors? What are some strategies that can help us imitate Jesus characteristics and provide accurate, truthful, and compelling descriptions of Jesus as we share the gospel with others?

Read John 8:12 & 1 John 2:3-6 – Be consumed with following Jesus. How can this assertion challenge us to prioritize our relationship with Jesus? Examine and discuss what these four statements mean to you:

  1. It takes informed faith to confess His name.
  2. It takes allegiant faith to follow Him as King.
  3. It takes rightly placed faith to help Christ build His church.
  4. It takes faithful faith to experience His glory.

Spiritual Discipline:

Take time this week to pray specifically asking the Lord to help you: (1) discern the truth about who Jesus is, (2) increase your confidence in what scripture says about Jesus, (3) be assertive and consistent with how you share Jesus with others, and (4) follow Jesus with devotion and enthusiasm.

Action Steps:

Be intentional this week in sharing with someone what Jesus is doing in your life and invite them to church next week. Also, check out our sermon resources through RightNow Media from the home page on our Church Center app. You may create a RNM account for free at: Church Center/Sermon Resources.
