Read Luke 13:22, Luke 13:33, & Luke 18:31 – Jesus’ destination was Jerusalem; He was explicitly clear. How can we, as followers of Jesus, develop similar clarity and focus on the path He has set for us, even when we face challenges or distractions? What does it mean to “focus and follow” Jesus in your own daily life? How can recognizing and embracing Jesus’ clear purpose shape our own journey?
Read John 8:31-32, John 13:34-35, & John 15:5-8 – Help people become lifelong disciples of Jesus. How can we encourage and support one another in living out these truths as lifelong disciples? Share success stories, along with specific steps taken, of how you have pointed someone to Jesus or helped someone grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus. Discuss these examples as encouragement for one another in discipling others.
Read 1 Corinthians 15:58 & Galatians 6:9 – What it looks like to follow Jesus: Consistency over intensity. John Maxwell stated: “Motivation may initiate growth, but consistency sustains it.” How does the principle of “consistency” apply to our own spiritual growth and efforts to disciple others? What might consistency look like in your life? Share ideas for how to develop consistent behaviors that keep us faithful in our walk with Jesus?
Read Luke 9:59-60 & Mark 13:32-37 – What it looks like to follow Jesus: Urgency over eventually. How can living with a sense of urgency influence the way we prioritize our relationship with Jesus and point others to Him? Discuss ways to shift from a mindset of “eventually” to “now” in our obedience to Jesus’ mission.
Read Luke 9:61-62, Matthew 6:33, & Colossians 3:23-24 – What it looks like to follow Jesus: Diligence over reluctance. What does it look like to be “all-in” for Jesus? Discuss ways to overcome our own reluctance or distractions that impede engagement in Jesus’ mission. Share strategies to cultivate perseverance in our walk.

Action Steps: Follow Jesus and make disciples: (1) Focus on Jesus’ Mission: Identify distractions in your life and refocus on following Jesus with clarity and purpose by prioritizing His mission above all else, (2) Act with Urgency: Share the gospel with someone this week; avoid waiting for the “perfect time,” and (3) Commit Wholeheartedly: Pursue Jesus daily by seeking His kingdom first (Matthew 6:33) and serving Him diligently and consistently in all areas of your life (Colossians 3:23-24).
