Read Acts 2:41-47 – Church is not a commodity; church is a community, and belonging is essential to
believing. How might these verses and idea of “community” shape our view of fellowship and its influence over
our faith development? How do you describe belonging to a community as a component of living for Jesus?
Read Ephesians 4:11-3 – Our spiritual family informs our faith. Share specific examples of how fellowshipwith, and guidance (e.g., small groups, support groups, Sunday worship), from other believers has taught youto grow in faith? How can we intentionally allow our spiritual family to inform and strengthen our relationshipwith Jesus? Discuss ideas for how we can contribute to the faith development of others coming into our family.
Read Hebrews 10:24-25 – Our spiritual family encourages our faith. Share examples of how being part of aspiritual family has helped encourage your development. What are practical ways we can actively encourageand inspire others within, and outside, our family of believers? For instance, we want to have fellowship andencourage people already in our family; we also want to seek out and welcome new members into our family.
Read James 2:14-17 & Romans 12:5-8 – Our spiritual family exercises our faith. How does being part of aspiritual family challenge us to exercise our faith through the investment of our time, money, and energy?What steps can we take to exercise our faith? Share examples of exercising faith through our gifts.
Read 1 Peter 2:9 & 1 Timothy 3:16 – Our spiritual family proclaims our faith. How should our unity, love, andshared purpose as a community of believers be a witness for Jesus to those around us? Discuss ways we canshine the light of Jesus locally and globally and then consider how your group can put this into practice.
